Dear Friends! January 20, 2013
Another year has come and gone. I pray this new year finds you happy and healthy! This year marks our 9th year anniversary. It’s hard to believe it has been that long since Wings of Hope started. We have worked very hard over the years to help our families emotionally as well as financially as they deal with the challenges associated with cancer and blood disorders. Wings of Hope has never been stronger financially. We have always been and continue to be a debt free organization. We have more volunteers than ever before and faithful financial support from many. We are so appreciative of the support we have earned. All of our efforts with Wings of Hope have been on a volunteer basis. We do not get paid anything for what we do. It is what we feel God had planned for us and a way to give back to honor Him and his blessing of healing to my daughter, Ashlan.
As you know, Wings of Hope was founded because of Ashlan. She was 4 years old when she got sick and we started this organization. She is now a teenager and as you know, teenagers are quite busy and involved in many things. As she grows older, it is getting increasingly difficult to juggle a full time job, the volunteer work I do with Wings of Hope, and a family life with the increasing schedule that comes with cheerleading, band, being active in a church youth group, etc. Because of this, after much prayer and discussion, my family has decided that it is time to retire Wings of Hope and focus on our family during these last few years with Ashlan at home .
This was not an easy decision to make. It is solely a personal decision, not a financial/business decision. As mentioned above, we have never been stronger or more in a position to help others. However, I feel that the blessing of Ashlan’s health is that we have her to enjoy and support in her endeavors as she becomes her own person in life. It is time to focus on her and allow our family time to make memories before she goes to college and leaves home for good.
It is our plan that Wings of Hope will continue it’s financial support to families throughout the 2013 calendar year. However, our fundraising and family events will no longer take place. We are looking at other possible scenarios which could help us to continue financial aid programs past 2013. It has been a blessing and an honor to serve our families over the past 9 years. We could not have done what all we have without the support of friends like you. Please know that we value your friendship and thank you for all support that has been given to us. It is my prayer that the blessings that you have given to us over the years be returned to you in abundance.
As I end this letter, I pray that God shower your family with health and abundance. Please know that you and your friendship are valued and will be missed!
