What We Do

Gulf Coast Wings of Hope, Inc. was incorporated on December 22, 2004 as a non-profit organization. We are designed to assist the families of children with blood and cancer diseases by giving emotional support, education, and acting as advocates for improved care for the patients. Gulf Coast Wings of Hope, Inc. has been setup to better serve the Pensacola and surrounding areas in any way possible.
 
Overview
We Act as a fundraising and disbursement vehicle, providing coordination and administrative support for fundraising activities. These activities are directed toward education, counseling and other related humanitarian activities for Gulf Coast Wings of Hope patients, caregivers, and the families of pediatric blood and cancer disorder patients.
   
We extend emotional support to the families and caregivers of pediatric blood and cancer disorder patients.
   
We educate and train lay and professional caregivers of pediatric blood and cancer disorder patients.
   
We act as an advocate for improved care for pediatric blood and cancer disorder patients and caregivers, both in the home environment and in care facilities.
   
Quarterly
Buy trinkets to give to the young patients after their clinic visits for being brave.
   
Buy snacks and juice for the clinic for clinic patients that spend hours every day getting treatments.
   
Purchase gas cards to help families that travel to receive treatment.

Provide up to $500 annually to reimburse for medical costs and prescriptions.
   
Purchased doors for the new Oncology Unit at Sacred Heart Hospital.
   
Purchased hepafilters for the new Oncology Unit at Sacred Heart Hospital.
   
Offer Family assistance in the event of death.
   
Provide an "Excellence In Nursing" award each year to the most outstanding nurse nominated by pediatric patients and parents.
   
Purchased VCR/DVD players and movies for patients to watch while receiving treatment.
   
Purchased toys for patients to play with while receiving treatment.
   
Provide "Survival Kits" to newly diagnosed patients and parents.
   
Working to provide quality medical training and speakers at medical seminar sponsored by Sacred Heart Health Systems/Nemours Children's Clinic.
   
Provided $10,000 for the development of a specialized playroom in the new Pediatric Oncology Unit at Sacred Heart Hospital.
   
Provide $2,000 to Child Life at Sacred Heart Hospital annually for items not covered by their budget.
   
Provide $2,000 to Nemours Hem/Oc Clinic annually for items not covered by their budget.
